Lounjy

Cast to a smart TV (DLNA)

Your TV has neither Lounjy nor a Chromecast? Many smart TVs can still play what your phone sends, via DLNA (playing from other devices).

Beta

This works slightly differently for each TV brand. Not working on your TV? Let us know via Settings → About → Send feedback, or email [email protected] with your TV's brand and model.

Turn on DLNA on the TV

On many TVs it's already on. If not, look in the TV's network settings for DLNA, Media sharing or Connect devices. The name differs per brand.

  • Samsung, LG: if the TV asks whether a device may have access, allow it.
  • Philips, Sony: many models run Android TV or Google TV. Put Lounjy on the TV then, or use the built-in Chromecast.
  • Kodi: under Services → UPnP/DLNA, turn on UPnP and allow remote control.
  • Windows Media Player (the old one): in the Stream menu, turn on remote control.

Play

  1. Tap the cast icon (Play on TV).
  2. Choose the row with smart TV (DLNA) · limited controls.

Keep your phone on

Lounjy passes the picture to the TV through your phone or PC. Keep Lounjy open. Does Windows ask for access? Choose Private networks.

If relaying fails, Lounjy offers Straight to the TV. The TV then gets your login details, and not every TV can do it (Samsung often can't).

What you can control

  • Play, pause, stop and usually volume.
  • Seeking in movies and series; no timeline for live.
  • Zapping takes a few seconds.
  • You choose audio and subtitles on the TV itself.
  • Catch-up isn't possible.
