IPTV player for Windows: how to set it up
Lounjy is an IPTV player for your PC or laptop. This guide shows you how to install it, what to do about the blue Windows warning, how to add your playlist and which keys to use.
Lounjy doesn’t provide any content. The app comes without channels, films, series or playlists. You use your own IPTV service. Only use a service that holds the rights to what it broadcasts.
Install Lounjy on Windows
Lounjy runs on 64-bit Windows 10 and 11. You install it with the installer from our website. It will soon be available from the Microsoft Store as well.
- Download the installer (.exe) from the download page.
- Open the file. If Windows shows a blue warning, read the section below first.
- Follow the steps. If you install it just for yourself, you don’t need administrator rights. A desktop shortcut is optional and off by default.
- Leave the box ticked at the end to start Lounjy straight away. After that you’ll find it in the Start menu.
To remove Lounjy later, do it the same way as any other program: in Windows, go to Settings → Apps.
The SmartScreen warning
When you open the installer, Windows may show a blue window saying Windows protected your PC. This is Microsoft Defender SmartScreen. Windows shows it for new programs it hasn’t seen many times yet. It doesn’t necessarily mean anything is wrong with the file. So check the file first, as described under Check it yourself.
- Choose More info. You’ll now see the file name. Until Lounjy has a digital signature, the publisher shows as Unknown publisher.
- Choose Run anyway. The installation starts.
Only do this with a file you got from our download page. If you got Lounjy from another website, or it was offered to you with channels included, don’t install it. It has nothing to do with us.
Check it yourself
We recommend doing this before you choose Run anyway. You compare the checksum. The download page has SHA256SUMS.txt with the SHA-256 checksum of every file.
- Open PowerShell in the folder that holds the file, for example Downloads.
- Type
Get-FileHash, a space and the file name, then press Enter. - Compare the long code with the one in
SHA256SUMS.txt. Upper and lower case don’t matter. If they match, the file hasn’t been changed on the way.
Add your playlist
The first time you start Lounjy, you’ll see Welcome to Lounjy. Choose Add playlist and the playlist window opens. At the top, pick the way your service delivers its channels. Not sure which one you have? Read M3U vs Xtream Codes.
Xtream Codes
- Choose Xtream Codes.
- Under Server, enter the address your service gave you, including the port. For example
http://service.example:8080. - Enter your Username and Password and choose Log in.
Lounjy then fetches the channels, films and series from your service. The TV guide follows by itself, in the background.
M3U playlist
- Choose M3U playlist.
- Got a file (.m3u or .m3u8)? Choose Choose an M3U file and find it on your PC.
- Got a link? Paste it under Or paste an M3U link and choose Load.
If your link is an Xtream link (it contains get.php), Lounjy turns it into an Xtream login by itself, so you also get films, series and the guide. If the M3U playlist includes a link to a TV guide, Lounjy uses it to fetch the guide.
With your phone
Prefer to type on your phone? Choose With your phone. A QR code appears, along with a six-digit code. Your PC and your phone need to be on the same home network. Your details go straight to your PC, not over the internet and not through us. There’s more about this under Set up from your phone.
After loading
Lounjy shows how far along it is, and you can cancel at any time. With thousands of channels, the first load can take a while. Afterwards you’ll see a summary of what was fetched. Choose Go to Live TV to start watching. Your password stays encrypted on your PC. If the TV guide is wrong for a few channels, go to Settings. Next to your playlist, in the TV guide row, choose Link TV guide. A window with the same name opens. If the guide is completely empty, read TV guide empty or wrong?.
Keyboard shortcuts
Everything works with the mouse, but the keyboard is quicker for changing channels. These keys work while you watch live TV:
| Key | What it does |
|---|---|
| ↑ ↓ or PgUp PgDn | Previous or next channel |
| ← | Open the channel list |
| 0–9 | Go to a channel number |
| Space | Pause and resume |
| Enter or → | Show the controls, including Previous: … to go back to the channel you just watched |
| F or F11 | Full screen on or off |
| Esc | One step back: menu, channel list, full screen, controls, and then back to the previous screen |
| F1–F4 | The coloured buttons: Favourite, Channels, Start over or Back to live (if your service supports it), and Picture and sound |
While the controls are open, the arrow keys move between the buttons. Press Esc to hide the controls and change channels with the arrows again.
While the controls are on screen, the bar at the bottom shows what the coloured buttons do. When a menu is open, such as audio or subtitles, you can also pick an option with the number keys 1–9.
For films and series, ← skips back 10 seconds and → skips forward 30 seconds. When Skip intro appears, press S.
Updates
Open Settings in Lounjy and look under Updates.
- If it says New version available, choose Update. Lounjy downloads the new version and checks that the file is intact. It then closes, installs the update and starts again.
- Under Release type, choose Stable or Beta. Beta gets new features sooner, but may be less stable.
- If a new version doesn’t work well and it shows Back to version …, choose Restore. Your playlists and settings stay as they are.
