Cast to a Chromecast
Do you have a Chromecast or a TV with a built-in Chromecast, but no Lounjy on the TV? Here's how to play on it anyway.
Tip
Does your TV run Google TV or Android TV? Then install Lounjy on the TV itself: everything plays and you get more control. See Cast to Lounjy on the TV.
Play
- Tap the cast icon (Play on TV).
- Choose the row with Chromecast. If Lounjy is also on that TV, you'll find the Chromecast under Another way.
- If you get a notice, choose Play, Try anyway or Play here.
What plays and what doesn't
| Plays? | |
|---|---|
| Live channels | Usually. If your service delivers a channel in a form a Chromecast doesn't know, Lounjy tells you beforehand. |
| Movies and series in mp4 | ✓ |
| mkv files | Usually not; try Try anyway. |
| avi, wmv, flv | – |
| Newer picture format | Only on a recent Chromecast with Google TV. |
| Dolby sound | Only if your TV or soundbar handles Dolby. |
| Catch-up | Not with every service. |
| Subtitles, other audio language | Only if your service supplies them separately. |
If it doesn't work, choose Play here, or let your phone relay (see Relay through your phone).
The "Good to know" notice
A Chromecast gets the channel's address, with your username and password in it. Lounjy tells you once per playlist. You choose:
- Play: just carry on; at home that's usually not a problem.
- More info → Relay via this phone: the Chromecast doesn't get your login details.
Always relay?
Set Advanced settings to Show and turn on Always relay via this device. The notice won't appear again.
